Guitar freaks orignial

Posted by ringtailed on 2006.12.02 at 15:19
Hey guys, just looking to pick your brains regarding an original Guitar Freaks machine I picked up the other day. I remember reading a few years back about Hard Drive hacks for some of the Bemani system games that allowed you to have multiple versions on the game on one machine, i.e 1st / 2nd / 3rd mix etc. Is it possible to do this with Guitar freaks? I realise that 1st stage is analog and that only a few others are compatible but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also the machine I have seems to crash on a certain song in expert mode, Would a fresh HD chd fix this?

Wow, that's pretty cool.

I don't know how many people on LJ have much experience with their own machines, but there are a few Bemani discussion sites around that you might try asking your question at.

Thanks for the advice man, I was messing around with the insides there tonight and i've just finished backing up the disc. The Security chip is another matter I think but should prove a fun challenge. :)

Does anyone know what mixes I can upgrade the original to? :)

*is rather envious*
if you dont mind me asking though, howd you do it? the only place Ive seen that you can buy them from is channel beat and they hella expensive...
in any case I'd try benamistyle.com
used to know of a gfdm site but its pretty much dead and closed there nowadays

I'm UK based and I have a gaming / hobby store and we always have a few machines up the back but this is my first Bemani cabinet. I bought it off another operator two weeks ago for £350. It needed a bit of work but is going fine now apart from one song.

I was just in the right place at the right time really.

Spent last night with duct tape and a soldering iron fixing the left controller. Apparently the Irish method of licking your fingers and twisting the wires together is only a good idea when the machine is off... Who knew? ;P
